We deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions for complex construction projects across Texas and beyond. We are seeking a detail‑oriented, analytical Estimator to join our growing team.
Position SummaryThe Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial mechanical construction projects. This role requires strong technical knowledge of plumbing, piping, sheet metal, and mechanical systems, along with the ability to interpret construction documents, perform detailed quantity take-offs, and collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare complete cost estimates for plumbing, piping, HVAC, hydronic, and mechanical systems.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs using drawings, specifications, and project narratives.
- Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs to develop competitive bids.
- Review and interpret construction documents
, including plans, specifications, and addenda. - Prepare bid proposals
, including scope clarifications, exclusions, and pricing breakdowns. - Issue pre‑bid RFIs
, track responses, and adjust estimates accordingly. - Solicit, evaluate, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotes
. - Participate in pre‑bid meetings
, site walks, and internal bid review sessions. - Maintain and update pricing databases, cost histories, and estimating tools.
- Support project hand‑off meetings and provide clarification to operations teams after award.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and field teams to ensure estimate accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
, Construction Science
, or related field (Journeyman‑level mechanical trades experience may substitute for senior roles) - 2+ years of experience estimating commercial mechanical construction projects
- Strong understanding of plumbing, piping, HVAC, hydronic, and mechanical systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
, Word
, and estimating software (Bluebeam, Revit, EST‑MEP) - Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
- Experience estimating medical gas systems
, specialty piping, or large commercial mechanical scopes - Familiarity with Access databases
, cost recap workbooks, or advanced estimating tools - Experience working with general contractors and participating in competitive bid processes
