Mission Hires is seeking a Safety Coordinator to facilitate and maintain a behavior-driven safety culture on construction/industrial job sites. This role will lead site safety training, audits, hazard analyses, compliance oversight (OSHA/EPA/DOT), incident investigations, and documentation while partnering closely with field supervision and management to achieve 100% conformance with safety standards.
Responsibilities:- Facilitate a safe, healthy, behavior-driven safety program across assigned projects
- Monitor, correct, and educate the workforce on workplace health and safety issues
- Conduct worker training on safety laws/regulations, hazard recognition, equipment use, material handling, and PPE
- Plan and conduct housekeeping inspections and safety audits with focus on hazard recognition, unsafe behaviors, and OSHA compliance
- Document and communicate inspection findings to site supervision; recommend and track corrective actions to 100% closure
- Coordinate, develop, and review Task Hazard Analyses (THA) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for all assigned work
- Identify safety training needs and facilitate required trainings
- Provide technical, training, and administrative support for site-specific safety, health, and environmental issues
- Oversee and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations related to company operations
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, occupational injuries, and property damage; gather data/photos and complete required reports
- Attend accident review meetings as directed and support corrective action plans
- Conduct new-hire safety orientations as needed
- Issue safety permits (e.g., confined space) as required
- Accompany OSHA and other regulators during site walkthroughs; document activities and ensure prompt correction of discrepancies
- Develop positive relationships with field supervision and management through regular on-site engagement and safety progress updates
- Provide safety surveillance services as directed
- Prepare, submit, file, and maintain accurate and thorough safety documentation and records
- Perform additional safety-related assignments as requested
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety/Health or equivalent combination of technical training and construction-related safety experience
- Certifications:
OSHA 510 or 511, and current First Aid/CPR - Minimum 2 years of experience in construction safety management and/or industrial safety management
- Thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local, and company safety regulations with proven enforcement capability
- Demonstrated ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement effective corrective measures
- Experience documenting accident and incident investigations with complete, accurate reports
- Proficiency with MS Office and solid computer skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work extended and irregular hours as needed
- Ability to meet all jobsite-specific access requirements with no outstanding restrictions related to partnering GCs, owners, or customers
