ROLE OVERVIEW

The Director of Construction is responsible for leading the successful delivery of a 500MW ground-up hyperscale data center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This individual serves as a senior construction leader and a primary relationship owner between the construction organization and the client.

Operating at the intersection of strategy, operations, and client management, the Director of Construction helps set the tone for the project from pre-award through final closeout. This individual must navigate high-stakes negotiations, resolve escalated issues, and maintain the trust of a hyperscale owner who expects zero surprises. The role demands someone who has led projects of comparable scale and complexity and can mentor a large, diverse team under significant schedule pressure.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own project budget, schedule, and overall construction performance at the senior leadership level; report directly to Division VP
  • Serve as a primary owner-facing construction leader and maintain strong client relationships at all levels
  • Support contract negotiation, GMP development, and major subcontract award decisions
  • Lead construction strategy including budget development, bid packaging, sequencing, and risk allocation
  • Establish and maintain project governance including reporting cadence, meeting protocols, and escalation paths
  • Monitor and manage the project risk register; implement proactive mitigation strategies
  • Resolve escalated issues between owner, design team, subcontractors, and GC
  • Provide monthly project reporting to internal leadership and the owner
  • Review and approve change orders within established authority
  • Mentor and develop the Project Manager, superintendents, and engineering staff
  • Coordinate with AHJ, utility providers, commissioning authority, and other key project stakeholders
  • Maintain awareness of all critical path items, long-lead equipment status, and procurement milestones
  • Lead schedule recovery efforts when the project falls behind
  • Ensure construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project quality requirements
  • Represent the company at industry events, owner presentations, and preconstruction interviews
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 15+ years of large-scale commercial or mission-critical construction management
  • 5+ years in an executive role on projects exceeding $500M
  • Experience with hyperscale data center, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or large campus delivery
  • Proven P&L ownership and GMP contract delivery experience
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, structural systems, and LV/controls infrastructure
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, diverse construction teams in high-pressure environments
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience on multiple 100MW+ or hyperscale data center projects
  • Deep subcontractor relationships in the Tulsa / Oklahoma regional market
  • Familiarity with Procore, P6, and enterprise-level cost management platforms
  • PMP or CCM credential
