** The Vacancy
** AVO Training Institute, a subsidiary of Megger, based in Dallas, TX, has been in business since 1963. We offer electrical safety and maintenance courses that help keep technicians, electricians and engineers safe and compliant. Our curriculum includes electrical safety and maintenance practices for substations, circuit breakers, protective relays (mechanical & microprocessor), power transformers, cable, and electrical fundamentals.

AVO Training is currently looking for an experienced Technical Writer to create high-quality content and media for our publications, and contribute to the success of our participants and instructors. This person will maintain standardized and consistent practices while partnering with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure the accuracy of the content utilized in our publications.

This is not a remote position.

This person will report to the Content Development Manager, and work alongside instructors, SMEs, and content designers, to partner in the execution of the learning & development needs. This position is not a remote position.

* Duties and Responsibilities:

*** Facilitate group sessions with subject-matter experts (SMEs) to gather publication and content development requirements.
* Revise and update existing media and published content as requested.
* Develop instructional course content, including the assimilation and organization of technical materials.
* Maintain familiarity with new and updated products, technologies, and instructional tools.
* Participate in project planning, content reviews, and development meetings.
* Monitor developments in relevant technical fields to determine the need for revisions to previously published materials and the creation of new content.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
** Required Skills and Attributes:
*** Experience developing instructional content and training materials.
* Technical aptitude with ability to understand and clearly communicate complex technical subjects.
* Strong graphic design fundamentals and attention to detail.
* Ability to analyze content requirements/needs, and prepare assets for print, video, and interactive media.
* Experience translating complex concepts into clear, concise language and visuals.
* Ability to create 3D models of tools, equipment, and environments.
* Ability to develop animations demonstrating procedures, equipment operation, and safety concepts.
* Experience researching, editing, and translating complex technical documentation into visual and interactive media.
* Ability to produce high-quality documentation and media assets.
* Strong time-management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Ability to work effectively under deadlines.
* Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
* Experience developing virtual reality (VR) training or simulation content.

* Qualifications:

*** Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Media Development, or a related field.
* Native-level proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
* Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, and Illustrator.
* Strong working knowledge of Blender or similar 3D development software.
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
