Full-time; 5 days/Week; M-F; 8am-4pm
The Fit and Development Associate is responsible for executing and documenting fit sessions, maintaining size and quality standards and supporting a smooth transition from prototype through production in close partnership with Design, Buying, and Vendors.
Key Responsibilities- Lead live and/or virtual fit sessions on live models
- Responsible for communicating all fit and construction feedback to vendors up to TOP sample
- Measure garments and compare specs against approved Avara size standards
- Document fit comments, measurements, and corrections clearly and accurately
- Support updates to cover sheets with fit comments, fabrication changes, and work with designer on confirming colors/prints
- Track sample status, revisions, and approvals throughout the development process and production
- Identify basic fit issues related to balance, proportion, comfort, and construction
- Coordinate model fittings with internal team and modeling agency
- Maintain organization of fit sample racks alongside the Sample Coordinator
- Support quality and fit consistency during production handoff when needed
- Review and approve invoices as needed
- Assist in the implementation of PLM system
- Update and Share Vendor Manual
- Other duties assigned
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Production, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3-5 years of experience in a fit, technical design, or apparel development role
- Basic understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and sewing techniques
- Familiarity with fit terminology and apparel measurement standards
- Strong attention to detail and measurement accuracy
- Highly organized and good with time management
- Ability to quickly absorb and apply brand-specific fit standards
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google sheets, and familiarity with PLM systems is a plus
- Professional communication skills for working with internal teams and external vendors
- Ability to take direction and learn brand-specific fit standards
- Ability to stand for extended periods during fit sessions
- Ability to lift and carry garment samples as needed
- Experience assisting with fit sessions for a specific product category (e.g., knits, wovens, denim, outerwear)
- Knowledge of domestic and international sizing standards
- Exposure to domestic and offshore vendor communication
