Job Title

Registered Dental Assistant – Oral Surgery Agency – Texas A&M University Health Science Center Department of Oral Surgery

Salary

Compensation commensurate with experience. Dental Assistant I: starting at $17.78/hour. Dental Assistant II: starting at $19.56/hour. Dental Assistant III: starting at $21.51/hour.

Work Schedule / Location

Dallas, TX. On‑site role. Monday–Friday 8am–5pm.

Responsibilities
  • Direct patient care, preparing the patient and treatment room for the specific type of appointment.
  • Respond to student and patient inquiries regarding clinical policies and dental procedures not requiring the advice of a dentist.
  • Provide direct chairside assistance to graduate students during examination and treatment of patients, including four‑handed dentistry procedures, suction, retraction, and aseptic technique.
  • Perform environmental health tasks: disinfection/sterilization, handling blood borne pathogens, infection control according to OSHA and local policy.
  • Assist with dental materials and instrument setup for procedures.
  • Provide radiographic services and assist with oral photography, operating dental radiography equipment, and obtaining pre‑ and post‑treatment photographic records.
Required

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Dental Assistant I: combination of education and experience.
  • Dental Assistant II: 2 years as a registered dental assistant in a private practice, clinic, or dental training program; experience with dental implant procedures.
  • Dental Assistant III: 4 years as a registered dental assistant in a private practice, clinic, or dental training program; experience with dental implant procedures.
Required Licenses and Certifications
  • CPR certified.
  • Registered Dental Assistant.
Preferred Qualifications
  • DAANCE certification.
  • Experience with IV sedation.
  • Previous oral surgery experience.
  • Experience working in a high volume educational institute.
