The Senior Associate demonstrates increasing expertise regarding the principles of landscape architecture including design, site analysis and planning, principles of ecology, planting design, computer aided design and drafting technologies, 3D and visualization technologies and project management. The Senior Associate is expanding their knowledge of soils, plant material and project construction and delivery. The Senior Associate is distinguished from the Associate position by the complexity, size and number of assigned projects, the ability to work independently with very limited oversight from team leaders, mastery of OJB tools and technologies, ability to mentor and supervise other team members in their work, a proven track record of project construction and delivery and a growing focus on key business metrics (project profitability and marketing).
- Works independently with very limited oversight from Principal or Director
- Proficient in OJB Processes & Standards (drawing conventions, file management, time reporting)
- Demonstrates proficiency in OJB software programs (VW, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, InDesign)
- Leads project meetings with or without the participation of a Director or Principal, and demonstrates comprehensive understanding of assigned projects and clients
- Prepares and directs preparation of client presentations, plans, design studies and drawings, construction documents with the support from Associates, Project Designers and Designers
- Prepares and reviews site analysis and conducts and reviews technical research as required by projects
- Contributes thoughtful, meaningful and workable design ideas
- Compiles high quality document sets independently, without oversight
- Identifies and escalates project and client issues in a timely manner
- Assists in training of new team members, including Interns, Designers and Project Designers and Associates
- Demonstrates proficient project management skills through managing all aspects and phases of work within a project or multiple, larger scale projects with limited oversight from Director or Principal.
- Ensures projects are delivered on schedule, within scope and budget.
- Demonstrates proficiency in construction and horticulture knowledge base
- Manages consultant teams and reviews and approves consultant work product
- Maintains project profitability and anticipates the need for Additional Services
- Negotiates and secures Additional Services Fees independently
- Participates in invoicing review process.
