Shapiro & Company Architects is seeking an experienced, design-minded Senior Project Architect/ Manager to lead complex architectural projects and guide teams through all phases of design and delivery. Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager is a leadership role responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and execution of architectural projects from conception through completion. This individual serves as the primary liaison between the Firm, clients, consultants, and internal project teams, ensuring projects are delivered with excellence, efficiency, and accountability.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, strategic thinker, and experienced project leader capable of independently managing multiple projects with minimal oversight. This role requires a balance of technical knowledge, team leadership, operational awareness, and client service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects through all phases of design, documentation, and construction administration
  • Manage project scope, schedule, staffing, and deliverables to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Coordinate internal teams and external consultants to maintain quality, efficiency, and alignment
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in accordance with Firm standards and processes
  • Oversee project invoicing, budgets, contracts, and overall project profitability
  • Anticipate challenges proactively and implement effective, solutions-oriented responses
  • Maintain accuracy and completeness of project documentation
  • Review and check code compliance applicable to each project and ensure we are meeting building, zoning, and accessibility requirements in conjunction with the architecture and interiors teams
  • If licensed and supervising the work, provide professional sealing/stamping as required
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders
  • Foster strong, long-term client relationships through responsiveness, professionalism, and trust
  • Manage expectations clearly and proactively throughout the project lifecycle
  • Lead meetings, presentations, and coordination efforts with confidence and clarity
  • Support a seamless and high-quality client experience from project pursuit through completion
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and day-to-day direction to project teams
  • Support the technical and professional development of emerging staff
  • Encourage collaboration, accountability, and a positive studio culture
  • Assist with staffing coordination and recruitment efforts as needed
  • Reinforce the Firm’s Vision, Mission, and Values through leadership and example

Studio & Operational Contribution

  • Contribute to overall studio performance through effective workload management and team coordination
  • Support continuous improvement of workflows, project delivery methods, and technology integration
  • Communicate project progress, staffing needs, and operational concerns proactively to Directors and Principals
  • Participate in strategic discussions regarding project execution and studio growth

Business Development & Industry Engagement

  • Support proposals, RFQs, interviews, and business development initiatives
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, and industry partners
  • Represent the Firm professionally at industry events and within the community
  • Contribute to the Firm’s growth through project success and relationship-building

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8+ years of professional experience in architecture project management
  • Licensed Architect preferred
  • Proven experience leading projects independently through all phases
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, construction methodologies, codes, zoning, and ADA/Fair Housing requirements
