Position: Lead UX Designer          at AT&T        in        Dallas,        Texas

Lead UX Designer

You have the unique opportunity to be a part of an innovative product team-discovering customer problems and applying solutions to new and existing products that will drive AT&T's future growth. Reporting to the AVP of Product Design and Innovation, for Mass Markets, you will join a team of product designers, UX researchers, and product managers. Our Product and Innovation Design team is delivering innovative and reliable technology solutions to power differentiated, simplified customer experiences.

This new discipline and organization report to the CPO, offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of product design.

What You'll Do

Design and optimize user experiences for acquisition, care, or product across all platforms, using a combination of skill, creativity, collaboration techniques, and tools to ensure intuitive and seamless interactions.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design and Prototyping: Create wireframes and interactive prototypes to visualize design solutions, design and develop user interface features, site animations, and special effects elements, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and aesthetic principles.
  • User Research and Information Architecture: Conduct thorough user research to understand user needs and behaviors, develop and organize the structure and flow of information within the product, and determine optimal layout, media, and technology based on client requirements.
  • Collaboration and Strategy: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including researchers, developers, and product managers, to ensure cohesive and effective design solutions, contribute to the design group's efforts to enhance digital offerings, and independently manage multiple projects.
  • Usability, Accessibility, and Documentation: Ensure that designs comply with usability and accessibility standards, create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, and maintain security and documentation standards, including quality and accuracy.
  • Continuous Improvement and Trend Awareness: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve design processes and outcomes and analyze performance to drive future design improvements.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Balance a healthy load of projects with mentoring junior colleagues in and outside of design. You champion innovation by leveraging deep domain expertise and fostering a culture where groundbreaking solutions flourish.
Who You Are

As a Lead Designer, you should be:

  • Able to tell compelling stories about your team's work to senior leaders up through the C-suite with strong design rationale and facilitated buy-in with your product and technology partners
  • Great at wrangling complex problems and finding clarity and simplicity in ambiguous problem spaces
  • Strategic about identifying and pursuing opportunities to organize and create holistic, compelling product design at scale
  • Capable of understanding core business model and engineering terms and conversant in other disciplines to advance design within the context of our business and engineering partners
  • Passionate about advancing AT&T's product and design practices across the company, and especially with non-designers-educating and persuading others on the value of modern design within the product operating model inside and outside of AT&T
Experience

Required:
  • 7+ years of experience in interaction or product design, with a proven ability to create intuitive, engaging user interfaces.
  • Deep expertise in Design Thinking and Lean UX, with experience refining designs through ongoing user testing.
  • A strong portfolio that showcases end-to-end product design and user-centered thinking.
  • Proficiency with design tools, including Figma, Fig Jam, and Lovable.
  • Experience partnering with engineers to deliver product features and releases.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of interaction design, information architecture, and usability best practices.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading collaborative design sessions with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to set design direction, explain the rationale to non-design audiences, and advocate effectively for design decisions.
