What

does the Practice Director do?

This role is the strategic operator for Surgical Services - supports aligning long‑range strategy across interdependent initiatives (programs), leading end‑to‑end project delivery, and providing executive operations support to the VP, Surgery & Surgical Executive Directors. The position orchestrates cross‑functional execution (clinical operations, physician enterprise, etc), ensures benefits realization across the surgery portfolio, and supports integration outcomes.

Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities:

Program Leadership & Strategy Alignment
  • Translate Surgical Services strategy into a multi‑year program roadmap (capacity growth, service‑line expansion, access and patient‑experience initiatives), ensuring projects align to strategic goals and deliver cumulative benefits.
  • Define program controls (governance, cadence, standards, reporting, risk and benefits management) and coordinate interdependencies across projects and subprograms.
  • Track outcome metrics (quality, access, margin, throughput) and course‑correct to sustain strategic value.
Project Delivery & Execution
  • Own the full project lifecycle (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, closing) for high‑stakes initiatives (e.g. EMR Integrations).
  • Establish schedules, proformas, resource plans, risk registers, and KPI dashboards; lead project meetings and issue escalation to keep milestones on track.
  • Apply best‑practice PM methods (RACI, change control, lessons learned) to avoid ambiguity and accelerate decisions.
Operations & Strategic Alignment
  • Streamline workflows and convert strategy to execution through structured follow‑through.
  • Synthesize performance and program updates for senior leaders, physicians, and external constituents.
