Teacher, Music – PT

St. Bernard of Clairvaux, known as the “Little Gem of East Dallas”, is a PreK – 8th grade elementary school. We have an opening for a part-time music teacher for the  school year.

General Summary of the Position

The individual will teach music to grades PK-8 and oversee our school choir. The position reports to the principal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position

• Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
• Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church.
• Provide leadership, oversight, and management of all aspects of the music program.
• Promote the role of music in the overall program of student formation.
• Oversee the procurement and organization of all music equipment and storage spaces
• Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom.
• Communicate regularly with parents, teachers and administration regarding the music program.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Qualifications

• Must meet the minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCB ED.
• Experience teaching music at the elementary/middle school level (experience in a Catholic school preferred).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

This is a grant-funded position. Funding will be reviewed on a yearly basis.
