SUMMARY
We seek a dedicated and creative Middle School and Upper School Art Teacher to join our Arts Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching drawing, painting, design, graphic design and Honors 2D Art and will bring innovation and enthusiasm to inspire students across multiple art disciplines. This role involves developing engaging art curricula, leading both beginning and advanced art classes, and fostering a deep appreciation for visual arts in students.
The Art Teacher will also play a key role in preparing students for art exhibitions and competitions and collaborating with colleagues to integrate art across the curriculum. The program annually showcases work in school exhibitions, and the annual ISAS Arts Festival, among others.
This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. Some evening and weekend work is required
RESPONSIBILITIES- Working with Visual Art Team and Fine Arts Head, develop and implement a comprehensive art curriculum for Middle and Upper School students, including drawing, painting, design, and AP 2D Art.
- Foster artistic skills and a passion for visual arts while supporting students' physical, emotional, and intellectual development.
- Plan and lead engaging art classes that cater to students' diverse skill levels and interests, from introductory to advanced levels.
- Demonstrate expertise in various art techniques and mediums while developing a curriculum that spans a wide range of artistic styles and historical periods.
- Organize and oversee student art exhibitions and participate in school events that showcase student work.
- Collaborate with colleagues in Arts and other disciplines to integrate art into interdisciplinary projects and school-wide activities.
- Stay current with trends and best practices in art education through professional development and workshops.
- Work closely with the Arts faculty team to create a cohesive and supportive student environment.
- Contribute to the School's arts community by participating in events that celebrate and promote the visual arts.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in art education, fine arts, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
- Strong foundation in various art techniques and a demonstrated ability to teach advanced levels in drawing, painting, design, and AP 2D Art.
- Excellent skills in creating and presenting diverse art projects and exhibitions.
- Ability to teach students with varied learning styles and abilities, promoting inclusivity and differentiation.
- 3-5 years of teaching experience in a middle school/upper school setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of students and colleagues.
