Position: Instructional Specialist (205 Days) Multiple Positions
* Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to provide high quality programming and training

* Assist central and campus-based staff with using various types of data to impact outcomes of students with disabilities

* Assist in the management of complex cases in cooperation with administrative staff

* Provide and monitor best practices for students receiving special education services in specialized programs

* Maintain accurate records, organizational skills, and professional conduct to achieve the goals of the department

* Observe students and special education staff in the educational setting to ensure implementation of IEPs and best practices, and provide written, formative feedback for continued improvement

* Respond to Campus Requests for Assistance

* May provide direct support to students in high-need classrooms

* Schedule/conduct consultations/observations and provide written documentation of observations/recommendations

* Participate in committees and teams to monitor campuses/help ensure compliance with state, federal, and district guidelines

* Attend professional development in special education, mentoring, and leadership to remain up to date on new research on how children learn, emerging technology tools for the classroom, and new curriculum resources

* Develop and present special education training based on campus/district need

* Extensive knowledge of Autism and other low incidence developmental disabilities

* Knowledge of evidence-based practices to support students with low incidence developmental disabilities

* Create and follow up with campus action plans addressing campus need

* Implement a coaching and feedback model to support teachers with compliance guidelines, forms, and other resources in order to meet compliance requirements

* Assist teachers with staff schedules and setting up individual student schedules

* Perform all other duties as assigned

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited university

* Valid Texas Teacher Certification with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned

* 5 years teaching experience in special education

* Demonstrated computer literacy in special education program applications

* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral format

* Demonstrated knowledge of structured teaching methodology and techniques

* Demonstrated knowledge of special education instructional and IEP implementation best practices

* Must have own transportation.
