TITLE:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors/Master's/Doctorate degree and valid Texas Counselor's Certificate
Or licensed Professional Counselor Certificate preferred. Two years' experience in classroom
teaching.
REPORTS TO:
Campus Principal DUTY DAYS: 185 / 195
JOB GOAL:
Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive program of guidance, including counseling services
to school assigned. Use a planning proves to define needs and priorities of population served.
Provide a proactive, comprehensive guidance program for all students to maximize personal
growth and development.
PAY GRADE:
Teacher's Salary Scale

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Effectively plan and implement the school guidance and counseling program to meet
identified needs.
* Teach the school developmental guidance curriculum.
* Provide guidance to individuals and groups of students to develop academic, career, and
personal plans.
* Provide counseling to individuals and small groups relative to their concerns.
* Collaborate with district staff to administrate implementation of testing, appraisal programs, and services.
* Use of effective referral process to help students and others use special programs and services.
* Assume responsibility for compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports, records, and other documents required.
* Comply with policies established by federal and state law. State Board of Education rule, and the local board in the area of guidance and counseling.
* Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the school district.
* Maintain a positive, cooperative, and effective relationship with administrators and colleagues.
* Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations.
* Effectively communicate with students, parent and community.
* Acknowledge and respond to current and changing student and community needs.
* Review the effectiveness of the guidance program and implement changes as appropriate.
* Develop and maintain effective relationship with students, parents, and staff.
* Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance their work with students.
* Take the initiative to augment needed professional skills appropriate to job assignment
through professional growth opportunities.
* Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
* Serve as a professional resource to the staff and community.
* Articulate the district's mission and goals in the area of guidance and counseling to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
* Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.
* Performs other duties as directed by the assigned supervisor.
