Primary Purpose

The Secondary Dean of Scholar and Family Engagement is an essential member of the school leadership team. The role executes the scholar and family engagement vision for the school, aligned with Uplift’s IB vision for excellence, directly manages and supports teachers, scholars, and families as a culture leader on campus, and partners effectively with leadership across the network to realize Uplift’s mission.

Duties

/ Responsibilities Campus Leadership
  • Support the implementation of the strategic vision for the school that aligns with network priorities.
  • Maintain a shared vision of success across staff members and scholars.
  • Actively monitor progress toward school targets and goals and support implementation of aligned strategies to drive toward achieving the school’s vision of success.
  • Maintain and support a culture of continuous improvement.
Management of Campus Scholar Culture
  • Partner with the Secondary Head of Schools to support the development and execution of the campus culture vision.
  • Develop, implement, and manage effective scholar behavioral systems and ensure incorporation of family communication throughout the process.
  • Coach, model, and develop team members on effective classroom management through communication, observations, meetings, and collaboration.
  • Manage, coach, and evaluate comprehensive programs that increase scholar well‑being and achievement.
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze relevant scholar data to evaluate and make recommendations for systems of accountability that support students.
  • Manage and coach Grade Level Chairs to align to campus systems and goals and understand how their role impacts scholar culture and well‑being.
  • Work in partnership with the campus Student Support Specialist to ensure rules are implemented consistently and that scholar discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the handbook and Code of Character, with an emphasis on restorative practices.
  • Oversee systems, programs, and professional development on campus that ensures students feel a sense of belonging and safety, allowing active engagement in learning.
  • Ensure the student handbook and Code of Character is published and applied in compliance with Uplift guidelines, handling all related procedures regarding discipline, investigations, and documentation standards.
  • Facilitate meetings with parents, scholars, and teachers for violations of the Code of Character.
Ensure High‑Quality Family Engagement
  • Develop, maintain, and model transformative relationships with staff, scholars, families, and community members to reinforce campus vision, values, and culture.
  • Partner with the campus Family Engagement Coordinator to ensure scholar and family events remain a top priority for all campus staff members.
  • Co‑create the yearly calendar of campus activities and communicate these activities and meetings with scholars, parents, and key external stakeholders.
  • Leverage the monthly parent survey (pulse checks) to assess parent sentiment, celebrate successes, and address concerns promptly.
Scholar Co‑Curricular Experience Management
  • Work with grade level chairs and network partners to curate yearly experiences for scholars in line with the IB program of study and expose scholars to new interests.
  • Establish or uphold campus traditions and ensure cultural celebrations occur annually.
  • Require the Campus Athletic Coordinator to provide a robust athletic experience for scholars and ensure participation across the PK‑12 campus.
