The History and Philosophy Program at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Philosophy.
The ideal candidate will possess expertise and an active research program in Early or Late Modern Philosophy broadly construed, roughly from Descartes to Hegel. The candidate may also work in the intersections of this historical period with Non-Western philosophical traditions or other underrepresented areas of philosophy. The program has need for a candidate to regularly teach a graduate seminar on a major figure, topic, or theme in Early or Late Modern Philosophy.
Regular undergraduate teaching in the candidate’s area(s) of expertise will also be expected. The philosophy faculty offer a B.A. and M.A. in Philosophy and contribute to a Ph.D. program in the Humanities.
The standard teaching load is two courses per semester. Duties include active research, graduate supervision, normal committee service, and classroom teaching at all levels. Located in suburban Dallas (Richardson), UT Dallas is a dynamic, growing research institution with a vibrant student body (ca. 30,000) and a strong research faculty.
