Why This Role MattersThe Education Specialist plays a key leadership role in ensuring classroom quality, teacher effectiveness, and strong educational outcomes across Head Start centers. This position provides coaching and mentoring to teachers, supports the implementation of curriculum and assessment systems, and ensures compliance with Office of Head Start Performance Standards. By offering professional development, reviewing classroom data, modeling best practices, and supporting teacher growth, the Education Specialist strengthens the overall quality of the early childhood program and enhances outcomes for children and families.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and demonstration lessons to support teachers in implementing high‑quality early childhood practices.
- Support staff development by designing, delivering, and documenting trainings aligned to assessment data, observations, and performance standards.
- Review child assessments, portfolios, lesson plans, and required documentation for accuracy, compliance, and use in instructional planning.
- Conduct CLASS observations and classroom monitoring to inform professional development and support continuous quality improvement.
- Collaborate with Center Managers to ensure high‑quality classroom environments, positive teacher performance, and adherence to timelines and program guidelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Family and Human Development, or a related field.
- At least three years of early childhood teaching experience; supervisory or coaching experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CLASS observation tools, and facilitating training for early childhood educators.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and decision‑making skills with the ability to mentor and support adult learners.
- Commitment to upholding CCG’s mission, vision, values, confidentiality standards, and high‑quality early childhood practices.
