GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

The individual serving in the role as MEDEL Program Administrator and Professor understands and is committed to the educational values of a Christian, liberal arts education. This individual supports the spiritual and academic mission of Dallas Baptist University, and demonstrates a commitment to a quality, Christian higher education, the integration of faith and learning, the development of servant leaders, and continued growth as a professional scholar.

QUALIFICATIONS:

An earned doctorate is required for one serving in this role. Assignments and responsibilities require high levels of professionalism and confidentiality. Effective performers manage multiple projects well, work with deadlines, and adjust to changes in assignments. Necessary knowledge, skills, and dispositions for the position of Program Director and Professor include the following.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Program Administration: MEDEL program director responsibilities including the development and monitoring of effective program operation (e.g., advising students, developing appropriate curriculum, assessing program effectiveness, scheduling classes, recruiting quality adjunct faculty, etc.)

* Teaching Load:
Professor teaching role responsibilities include teaching 2 courses in the Fall, 2 courses in the Spring semester, and 1 course in the Summer semester.

* Service:
The individual serving in this role serves on institutional, departmental, and specialized professional association (SPA) committees (national, regional, local, etc.), and in leadership positions, as appropriate. This individual also contributes to the larger social and faith-based community.

* Contract:

The program administrator will receive a 12-month contract.

* Recruiting:
The program director is responsible to advertise, communicate, and recruit potential students for their specific program and all COE programs.

* Advise:
The program director is responsible to advise all students in the program on course sequences, track progress, encourage retention, and inform about upcoming deadlines and events.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

* Developing and revising appropriate curriculum aligned with appropriate state, national, and institutional standards

* Managing/aligning the program curriculum to meet state certification standards and the integration of faith and learning, including course work that reflects quality, rigor and current research-based theory and practice

* Develop systems to best prepare students for success on the state certification exam(s). Monitor, analyze, and report on certification exam data.

* Develop and/or consistently implement systems to accurately collect, retain, and report on data and required documents needed to increase effectiveness and comply with DBU, state, federal, and accreditation requirements.

* Assessing program effectiveness and creating reports for accrediting agencies (e.g., SACS, AAQEP, TEA, ABHE, etc.) and otherwise. Developing program description and annual reports for program area including learner centered outcomes (LCO) and assessment of LCO's.

* Evaluating program effectiveness by remaining knowledgeable of current trends in higher education through professional development activities such as research, conferences, seminars, and collaboration with other educational leaders.

* Teaching courses that effectively integrate faith and learning, while reflecting current, research-based knowledge and best practices

* Advising and mentoring students (including international students) for student retention and support:

* Assist students with registration, graduation, and other processes of the University and students' university life adjustments
