Position Summary: The primary responsibility of this faculty member is to teach students the knowledge and understanding of subject matter in a way that demonstrates a gift for teaching, competence in the academic disciple, and a genuine love for students. The faculty member’s pedagogy should communicate the love of a subject so that an average student can achieve understanding, demonstrate comprehension, and show an appreciation of the subject.

Candidates should be capable of teaching the courses below:

  • Mathematical Foundations (5th grade)
  • Pre-Algebra I (6th grade)
  • Pre-Algebra II (7th grade)
  • Algebra I (8th grade)
  • Geometry (9th grade)

Job Duties:

  • Ability to prepare and deliver a course syllabus and lesson plans, when requested
  • Teach assigned subjects
  • Prepare lesson plans and notes for class(es); create quizzes and tests
  • Grade homework, quizzes, tests and return in timely manner
  • Manage classroom, including behavior issues, missing / late work, etc.
  • Tutor struggling students
  • Parental contact: returning e-mails, phone calls in a timely manner
  • Attend required school functions
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings
  • Compliance with all job requirements and conduct as stated in the Faculty/Staff Handbook
  • Agreement with the CSD Doctrinal Statement and School Mission and Vision
  • Hold a gift of teaching
  • Demonstrated competence in the academic discipline
  • Good classroom presentation skills
  • Counseling and feedback skills to students
  • Ability to effectively communicate with parents
  • Genuine love for students
  • Willingness to assume leadership of extra-curricular activities, when necessary
  • Adequate computer skills
  • Teamwork with teaching peers and administration
  • Vital Outputs: committed parents and students who have an appreciation for the subject matter, who achieve their highest potential in the subject matter, who understand the Biblical Worldview in the subject matter
  • This position is a full-time, exempt position which requires regular on-campus instruction.
  • Activities include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors.

Minimum Education al Background: College degree required;
Master’s degree preferred (preferably in academic discipline)

Previous Related

Experience:

a preferred minimum of two years of teaching experience, ideally in classical setting
