Assist with the International program at DBU by enhancing a strong student support system involving the campus and community
Through coordination of transportation services, paperwork processing, and special events, help provide essential services for the academic, cultural, emotional, and spiritual integration of the international students at DBU
Coordinate the support of academically at‑risk students through mentoring, tutoring, and connecting students with various community support systems
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Ability to think critically, communicate effectively and grasp the skills to maintain multiple projects at one time
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Carry out the basic duties of a driver when needed. Including: shopping trips, daily shuttles, off-campus transportation requests (doctor/hospital appointments, airport requests, bank trips, SSN and DPS appointments, special events)
- Liaison with the Physical Operations Department to update the maintenance needs of the International Center vehicles and coordinate additional vehicle needs for International Affairs events
- Prepare shuttle schedules for students at the beginning of each term and break
- Responsible for advertising weekly shopping trips, organizing event sign‑up sheets, and coordinate shuttle services to and from the airport for students
- Being an advocate for the Transportation services aspect of the International Student Services for any inquiries regarding services within the office and outside the office
- Liaison with professors to provide shuttle services for academic field trips
- Advocate for the needs of international students on campus and in the local community on a daily and emergency basis
- Respond to emergencies involving international students
- Seek opportunities to share God’s love with international students in non‑abrasive, culturally sensitive ways
- Advise students relative to issues they may be facing
- Support and serve the international student organizations
- Provide support services for ISS events, International Graduation Reception, and other events as needed
- Work to serve the needs of At‑Risk/Special needs international students as needed
- Assist in the planning and/or implementation, and evaluation of department, campus, and community activities
- Attend professional meetings/training sessions as assigned
- Promote the development of Bible study and prayer meeting, discipleship and friendship evangelism opportunities among students, staff, campus and community
- Represent the International Department at campus/community functions as requested
Office Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the weekly schedule for drivers
- Process manifest forms and liability release forms as they come in
- Report potential problems related to international students on campus and in community to the ISSD administration
- Coordinate with the At‑Risk team and appropriate professors regarding international students that receive At‑Risk Alerts
- Serve as an AIM Mentor each semester for at least one Int’l student
- Schedule tutoring sessions with international students inquiring about tutoring services and tutor them to the best of your ability as needed
WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a full‑time position with regular office hours between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Occasional nights and weekend hours will be required.
WORK LOCATION:
This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211
