Reading Buddies are a key part of our programs and provide the essential reading comprehension assistance to a student once a week. As a Reading Buddy, you will help a child develop their comprehension skills through reading high-quality literature to them. Above all, you will be a positive role model who encourages them and makes reading fun!

Reading Buddies are a key part of our programs and provide the essential reading comprehension assistance to a student once a week.

Why we need YOU: In 2023, 43 percent of third graders in Dallas County were reading on level according to Dallas education advocacy coalition Commit. Readers 2 Leaders needs your help to increase the number of students reading at or above grade level by reading to students, one-on-one or in small groups.

• Read to students one-on-one or in small groups to support reading comprehension.
• Be a positive role model and make reading enjoyable to foster a love of reading.

We have Reading Buddies spots available in our After-School program, Monday-Wednesday from 3:45-5:30pm, and in our In-School program on Mondays-Tuesdays with 30-40 min sessions between 8:30am-2:30pm at our partner DISD school(s).

Volunteers commit to attending weekly sessions for at least a semester.
