Delivers small‑group structured literacy instruction to K‑2 students, advancing phonics, fluency, decoding, and writing. Designs instructional approach, interprets data, adjusts groupings, and coaches students through adaptive learning platforms. Responsible for literacy outcomes across the entire cohort in a flexible school environment.
What You Will Be Doing- Deliver small‑group structured literacy instruction for all K‑2 students.
- Evaluate student performance data from adaptive platforms and running records to reorganize groups and modify instruction.
- Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group coaching through adaptive learning tools, building relationships to ensure goal attainment.
- Create original lesson plans grounded in structured literacy frameworks, customized to each group's skill level and pace.
- Integrate occasional outdoor or experiential activities to support literacy when they strengthen learning outcomes.
- Develop IEPs or manage pull‑out intervention schedules with other teachers. All students fall under your direct responsibility.
- Passively monitor student use of learning apps; actively coach toward goal completion.
- Remain in a traditional classroom environment all day; literacy instruction is high‑intensity and focused.
- Correct massive worksheets; adaptive platforms handle practice volume and progress data.
Key Responsibilities
Drive reading and writing progress for all K‑2 students through structured literacy methods and adaptive learning platforms.
Basic Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- Master’s degree in reading instruction OR certification in structured literacy (Wilson, Orton‑Gillingham, CERI, IMSE, LETRS, UFLI, Neuhaus, or equivalent). This credential is mandatory.
- At least 2 years of full‑time K‑2 structured reading instruction using systematic phonics, completed within the past 5 years.
- Experience independently designing reading lessons and articulating instructional content without reliance on a published curriculum.
- Available to work on‑site at Waypoint Academy, Dripping Springs (Austin area), TX.
- Prepared to instruct all K‑2 students and integrate AI‑driven adaptive learning platforms into daily instruction.
- Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
- Proficiency with multiple structured literacy approaches and clear understanding of appropriate framework selection.
- Documented reading progress across an entire cohort, citing assessment tools and specific results.
- Knowledge of adaptive reading software (Amira, Lexia, Reading Eggs, or comparable platforms) and use of analytics for instructional planning.
- Background in alternative educational models (outdoor education, micro‑schools, Montessori, or similar).
- Full‑time (40 hours per week), long‑term position.
- Compensation: $50 USD/hour, equating to $100,000 USD per year (40 hours per week, 50 weeks per year). Weekly payment period.
- Requires independent contractor agreement with Crossover as Contractor of Record.
- Employment is immediate and located at Waypoint Academy; ongoing educational technology usage is essential.
