PASTOR OF CONNECTION & CARE
Mercy’s Director of Connection & Care will be a fellow vine‑worker, helping with one another in a gospel‑centered ministry. The role is full‑time as a PCA‑ordained or ordainable minister (Assistant Pastor) or unordained full‑time director. The proposed salary package will be commensurate with experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop a welcome/assimilation team approved by the session to help oversee the process, including strategic planning, communication, and recruiting and training volunteers.
- Evaluate and develop a plan for current welcome processes, including greeters/ushers, refreshments, and communion to provide structure, job descriptions and communication.
- Research strategies from resources that are doing hospitality well and implement them in a way that suits Mercy’s ministry context and culture, including developing a welcome area on Sunday mornings.
- Oversee a process to communicate with visitors, collaborating with staff on bulletin/order of worship, attendance, printed materials, and prayer marker/weekly email.
- Recruit, train and disciple youth volunteer leadership.
- Coordinate a youth group that aligns with Mercy’s shepherding philosophy, providing training and support for group leaders.
- Develop a focused senior high and junior high ministry, providing leadership opportunities to older students.
- Ensure proper planning and execution of youth events, being present at events, teaching when needed, and meeting regularly with youth leadership.
- Train and equip parents to create a culture of family discipleship.
- Work with other ministry leaders to integrate youth into the life of the church.
- Coordinate discipleship and shepherding for community groups through community group leaders.
- Encourage healthy group dynamics through evaluation and coaching as a ministry of presence.
- Bring elders and community group leaders together for prayer and training.
- Coordinate the formation of new groups and recruitment of new community group leaders.
- Coach leaders in hospitality and assimilation of new members.
- Participate in the liturgy rotation of the worship service.
- Preach 2‑4 Sundays a year.
- Attend staff meetings, fostering collaboration across ministries.
- Lead or attend a Mercy community group.
- Attend and participate in session meetings.
