The Day School is seeking a joyful, faith-filled PreK 4 Assistant Teacher to join our team. This individual is responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher in the classroom to achieve the mission of The Day School: partnering with families, educating the whole child, and providing a nurturing Christian environment while exhibiting the values of The Day School:

II. Results/Impact of this Position:

- Child will show development in all areas:
Social-emotional, Cognitive, and Physical - Parents will be informed of child's learning and school community
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure a joyful classroom and positive educational experience for all children
- Implement guidance according to The Day School guidance policy
- Assist Lead teacher in preparation of student work and classroom displays
- Assist students with work
- Keep Lead Teacher informed of any needs or issues related to students
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom
- Assist in supervising children throughout the day
- Assist during Specials, as needed
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
- Assist in managing student behaviors and implementing guidance techniques in accordance with The Day School policy
- Utilize Day School technology in the teaching/learning/communication processes as appropriate
- Exhibit professional judgement and responsibility at all times
- Participate in staff-development to improve job-related skills, complete 24 hours of CE annually
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, committee meetings, and work sessions
- Follow all rules, regulations and policies of The Day School
- Participate and assist with school events and processes including carpool, Family Picnic, Dad's Night, Open House, fundraisers, admission events and school committees
- Volunteer to assist on one Day School committee
- Assist students with diapering and toileting as needed
Competencies:
- Ability to remain clam in the presence of children
- Ability to maintain emotional composure under stress
- Ability to contribute to a positive workplace environment
- Ability to interpret policy
- Willingness to execute written employment contract of The Day School
- Position is full-time with occasional prolonged or irregular hours
- Employee is required to be on campus while children are present
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling. Occasional lifting up to 50 lb.
Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in education, early childhood, child development or closely related field OR current Texas teacher certificate for grades taught strongly preferred
- Experience working with young children
