Mission Statement

Uplift's mission is to create and sustain public schools of excellence that empower each student to reach their highest potential in college and the global marketplace and that inspire in students a life‑long love of learning, achievement, and service in order to positively change their world.

Primary Purpose

The Lead Curriculum Developer serves as the network‑level content authority for an assigned primary content area across a portfolio of 14 to 19 PK–5. In partnership with the Primary Managing Directors and Academic Strategy and Support team, this role leads the creation of original, IB‑aligned curriculum systems, supplemental instructional resources, and assessment tools that drive coherent, vertically aligned instruction across all campuses.

The Lead Curriculum Developer manages a portfolio of curriculum initiatives, ensures alignment with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), and IB Programme Standards, and collaborates with peer Lead Curriculum Developers to maintain cross‑content coherence. This is a mid-senior level role focused on curriculum systems design. All curriculum, assessments, and instructional resources are designed with integrated support for emergent bilingual learners as a baseline expectation, not as a supplemental add‑on.

Duties/Responsibilities

Curriculum Architecture and Development (50%)
  • Execute and manage the assigned content area vision and curriculum system for network-wide implementation across 14 to 19 PK–5
  • Coach and advise campus leaders on content-specific instructional priorities, and collaborate with peer Lead Curriculum Developers (Math, Science, Dual Language) to ensure curriculum alignment with IB Programme Standards and Practices, vertical alignment across grade bands, and cross-content coherence
  • Embed linguistic scaffolding, vocabulary development, and language-rich instructional routines into every unit and assessment as standard design practice. Ensure content-area language demands are explicitly identified and addressed so that EB students access grade-level content alongside their peers
  • Help teachers develop a deep understanding of and deconstruct TEKS and ELPS for their grade level and content area, with particular attention to supporting emergent bilingual students
  • Ensure all curriculum development aligns with current research and evidence-based instructional strategies, incorporating supports for multilingual learners
  • Participate in and facilitate curriculum review committees with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders
  • Apply educational theory and research to inform curriculum development decisions and recommendations
Intervention and Support Systems (15%)
  • Co‑plan with the Multilingual Programs Team and Data team across all assigned campuses to align Tier 2 interventions (tutorials) and resources with Tier 1 curriculum, ensuring all students can access and master grade-level content
  • Design curricular support materials that support differentiated instruction and intervention strategies in a cohesive manner
  • Create assessment tools and rubrics for measuring curriculum effectiveness
Data and Quality Assurance (20%)
  • Work with Data Team to analyze curriculum effectiveness across all campuses in the portfolio and track progress toward network-wide instructional goals
  • Use assessment data to inform curriculum revisions and improvements, with particular attention to emergent bilingual student outcomes and language development progress
  • Establish quality assurance processes for curriculum materials and resources
  • Analyze student achievement data, teaching strategies, and curriculum effectiveness to make data‑driven recommendations
  • Clearly communicate curriculum changes and teaching standards to school staff through professional development and training sessions
Professional Development and Field Alignment (15%)
  • Supports network-wide assessment initiatives, including administration of content-area benchmark assessments and state assessment preparation across all assigned campuses
  • Engage in cross‑functional content cohorts and leadership learning communities to stay current on instructional best…
