PART- TIME PRIMARY SPANISH TEACHER the Academic Year This position is 15 hours/week
Join our growing community! We are currently seeking a Part-Time Primary Spanish Teacher to join our dedicated faculty as we expand our lower elementary student body. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young learners in a child-centered, academically rich environment.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARYThe Part Time Primary Spanish Teacher implements and delivers an appropriately challenging world language curriculum to children ages 4.6 to 6 years.
JOB SCOPETeaches lessons in Spanish collaborating with other world language acquisition teachers who teach the same language. Work closely with Primary Guides and Student Support providing feedback on student progress and any socio-emotional behavior issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Implements curricula in the classroom, including cultural activities related to the target language
- Encourages students and creates meaningful activities through a balance of observation, guidance, and intervention
- Keeps records of student progress
- Keeps records of parent communication and reports same to Director of Primary Programs as required
- Maintains an organized classroom
- Prepares a folder to guide substitute during planned and unplanned absence
- Prepares and submits required reports, including conference reports as outlined in the Employee Handbook, collaborating with other specialty guides who teach primary students
- Communicates with parents, administrators, and/or Student Support staff concerning the emotional and physical well-being of students
- Communicates with Director of Primary Programs, Associate Head of School for Early Childhood, and/or Head of School as required, regarding student and parent related issues
- Participates in parent conferences as required
- Maintains classroom inventory and submits to Director of Primary Programs at the end of each school year
- Collaborates with Director of Primary Programs regarding materials and classroom practices
- Attends and actively participates in Specialty Guide meetings, and/or other meetings as assigned
- Assists with morning carpool duty as required
- Attends school, community, and/or parent education events as outlined in the Employee Handbook, or as assigned by Director of Primary Programs
- Reports all accidents/incidents pletes Incident Report and delivers copies of the same to parent and school nurse
- Complies with Employee Handbook for all other duties not listed
- Assists with carpool duties as required
- Ability to provide documents verifying authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must pass Criminal Background Checks, Drug Testing, and Reference Check
- Native speaker of the target language
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact and communicate professionally with colleagues, students, parents, and others in the school community, and during off-campus school related activities
- Ability to function as a team with colleagues and Director of Primary Programs, and with others as required
- Ability to lead a group of students without assistance from another adult
- Passion and patience for working with children at their developmental levels
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Previous experience teaching the target language
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products
- Knowledge of varied teaching strategies to differentiate learning
- Fluency with a variety of technology tools to advance learning
- Hours are M-F 12:00 to 3:00 pm
- Works in standard classroom climate and conditions
- Works outdoors supervising students at carpool
- Prepares development plans by the end of the first month of the beginning of the school year
- Order necessary supplies and materials
