Summary
This role ensures that each FMS shop employee possesses the necessary skills and knowledge for their role, contributing to maintenance goals, cost control, customer satisfaction, employee growth, and overall productivity. The Technical Trainer ensures that Ryder’s training meets or exceeds internal customer expectations, enabling trainees to reduce rework, breakdowns, and external expenses. Additionally, this role drives continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency within the FMS maintenance organization.
Job DescriptionThe Technical Trainer administers training to FMS maintenance employees. The role coordinates with BU leadership to identify training needs, creates training schedules, and manages employee attendance to training sessions. It identifies, develops, and updates current and new training materials and courses, and updates training records promptly upon course completion. The trainer ensures training facilities provide high‑quality environments, supplies, and equipment to support world‑class training, and communicates the needs of the training center to Operations Leadership.
The trainer operates as a catalyst for the Top Technician Recognition Program to improve eligibility and participation, and promotes and supports safety programs.
- Administer training to FMS maintenance employees.
- Coordinate with BU leadership to identify training needs, create training schedule, and manage employee attendance to training sessions.
- Identify, develop, and update current and new training materials and courses.
- Update training records promptly upon course completion.
- Monitor training facilities to ensure they provide high‑quality training environments, are adequately supplied, and equipped to support world‑class training; communicate the needs of the training center to Operations Leadership.
- Operate as catalyst for Top Technician Recognition Program to improve eligibility and participation.
- Promote and support safety programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Possesses strong technical aptitude.
- Develops and delivers effective presentations.
- Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors).
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Capable of multi‑tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills.
- Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
- H.S. Diploma/GED, required.
- 3 years or more working with heavy‑duty trucks, tractors, trailers, refrigeration and related components (diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, power train, etc.), preferred.
- 1 year or more experience in managing people and remote personnel, preferred.
- 2 years or more in transportation industry, preferred.
- 1 year or more in prior training and development experience, preferred.
Greater than 60 %.

Compensation InformationThe compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long‑term incentive plan based on the level and/or type.
Pay TypeSalaried.
Minimum Pay Range$75,000.
Maximum Pay Range$75,000.
