Department SummaryThe University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position specializing in Public Administration and/or Public Affairs. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position for the 2026‑2027 academic year (could be extended). The Department of Public Leadership and Administration at the University of North Texas at Dallas is hiring a Visiting Assistant Professor specializing in Public Administration and/or Public Affairs. This is a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track position for the 2026/2027 academic year. Faculty members may be required to use certain texts and meet specific program parameters and will be required to teach on campus for face‑to‑face and hybrid courses, as well as office hours.
Faculty will also be required to include in their courses certain student assessment measures determined by the department and compile data on those assessment criteria.
- Ph.D. in Public Administration, Public Affairs, Public Policy (ABD/Master’s candidates will not be considered.)
- 2–5 years of teaching experience at the university level.
- Demonstrated expertise in Public Administration, Public Affairs, or Public Policy.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to deliver high‑impact teaching experiences.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of thinkers and learners.
- Ability to teach on campus at UNT Dallas.
- Provide quality instruction in graduate Public Leadership and Administration courses matching the instructor’s background, education, and skill base.
- Provide instruction in a full range of graduate‑level face‑to‑face, hybrid and online courses focused on public administration, including data analytics and research methods, public service & society, performance measurement & monitoring, intergovernmental relations, healthcare administration, public health leadership, leading and managing public organizations, and public‑private partnerships.
- Experience with online or hybrid teaching formats.
- Evidence of scholarly activity in the field of Public Administration.
- Teach graduate courses in Public Leadership & Administration.
- Develop and deliver high‑impact and engaging course content.
- Foster a dynamic and supportive learning environment for an urban student body.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the department's academic offerings.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- No adverse environmental conditions expected.
