Job Summary
Manager, Education Program – Surgery (936067). This role manages the Surgery Education Office and coordinates education programs for residents, fellows, and medical students.
Responsibilities- Direct administrative strategies and implement systems to enhance operations of local and national education programs.
- Collaborate with Vice Chair of Education, Program Directors and Graduate Medical Education office to assess and improve trainee performance.
- Manage financial planning and annual operating budgets for residency and fellowship programs.
- Recruit, interview, hire, evaluate staff and oversee performance, including disciplinary actions and professional development.
- Oversee residency and fellowship recruitment processes and manage program specialist activities.
- Handle university and hospital appointments and reappointments for residents and fellows and ensure compliance across multiple sites.
- Design and implement evaluation processes for residency and fellowship training, tracking competencies and reporting to committees.
- Coordinate educational programming, ensuring smooth scheduling and compliance with CME requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of ACGME, RRC, ACOG regulations and support audit, reaccreditation, and recertification processes.
- Manage volunteer faculty oversight, credentialing, and privileges as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- 7 years of related experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Proven ability to lead employee development and improve performance over time.
- Skilled in redesigning business processes for continuous improvement.
- Effective management of multiple short‑ and long‑term projects with competing priorities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; comfortable working with senior faculty.
- Experience with education systems such as Med Hub, ERAS, E‑Value, and NRMP (preferred).
- Working knowledge of higher education regulations, including ACGME, RRC, and ACOG.
