Department Summary

The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) is part of the UNT System, which also includes UNT Denton and UNT Health Fort Worth. UNT Dallas, a standalone university in southern Dallas, invites applications for a full‑time faculty position in Mathematics, beginning Fall 2026. This tenure‑track position is offered at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching and to participate in the continued development of the UNT Dallas Department of Mathematics, which offers a B.A. with Secondary Teacher Certification and a B.S. in Mathematics.

Position Overview

Expectations for tenure‑track faculty at UNT Dallas include excellent teaching, research, and service, resulting in contributions equivalent to a four‑course load each semester. This workload can be fulfilled through a combination of teaching, high‑quality research and scholarship, service, and program development. Faculty are also expected to participate in service activities such as curriculum development, student recruiting and advising, program assessment, and committee leadership.

The ideal candidate will be committed to advancing UNT Dallas’s Classroom‑to‑Career initiative—an effort that bridges academic achievement and career readiness. This includes strengthening industry partnerships, embedding experiential learning (internships, research, service learning) into the curriculum, integrating career and character competencies, and fostering AI fluency and essential power skills such as communication, adaptability, teamwork, and leadership. The candidate should support the development of new academic programs aligned with workforce needs and pathways to family‑sustaining careers.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field by start date
  • Evidence or demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
  • Experience teaching college‑level Mathematics courses
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in scholarship
  • Demonstrated effective written, verbal, and team‑building communication skills
