Position Overview

UNT Dallas invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Psychology Department with a Neuroscience specialization. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching neuroscience courses (e.g., Neuroscience Methods Laboratory, Capstone Research in Neuroscience), maintain an active research program, and contribute to departmental and university service. Candidates who can expand the B.S. in Psychology‑Neuroscience concentration and enhance undergraduate research in neuroscience are especially valued.

The ideal candidate will advance UNT Dallas’s Classroom to Career initiative, strengthen industry partnerships, embed experiential learning, and support workforce‑aligned academic programs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a closely related field (or equivalent degree).
  • Record of teaching excellence in neuroscience‑related courses.
  • Demonstrated potential or evidence for scholarly research and publication commensurate with academic rank.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Capacity to teach Psychology‑Neuroscience courses and conduct neuroscience research.
  • Experience teaching courses such as Neuroscience Methods, Behavioral Neuroscience, and Drugs & Behavior.
  • Mentoring undergraduate research in neuroscience.
  • Expertise in neuroscience methods leading to publication.
  • Ability to teach face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid courses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate students.
  • Experience working with underrepresented student populations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in evidence‑based neuroscience research methods.
  • Experience developing and delivering an integrated psychology and neuroscience curriculum.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively and professionally with students and colleagues.
Job Duties
  • Excellence in teaching, research, and service, with a typical teaching load equivalent to four courses per semester.
  • Workload may be fulfilled through teaching, high‑quality research and scholarship, service, and program development.
  • Faculty service may include curriculum development, student research mentorship, and participation in university committees.
Physical Requirements
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Performing tasks in tight and confined spaces.
  • Engaging in sedentary work primarily involving sitting or standing.
Environmental Hazards
  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.
Work Schedule

As required by teaching duties, service, and research.
