The individual serving in the role as MEDEL Program Administrator and Professor understands and is committed to the educational values of a Christian, liberal arts education. QualificationsAn earned doctorate is required for one serving in this role. Assignments and responsibilities require high levels of professionalism and confidentiality. Effective performers manage multiple projects well, work with deadlines, and adjust to changes in assignments. Necessary knowledge, skills, and dispositions for the position of Program Director and Professor include the following:
- effective written and oral communication skills
- strong knowledge of content area (discipline of courses taught)
- mentorship/advising/counseling experience, or demonstrated potential for success with such skills
- strategic thinking and planning
- organizational management
- research skills
- personal management
- report generation
- positive disposition toward diversity
- commitment to continued professional learning and contribution to the field
Professor teaching role responsibilities include teaching 2 courses in the Fall, 2 courses in the Spring semester, and 1 course in the Summer semester.
The individual serving in this role serves on institutional, departmental, and specialized professional association (SPA) committees (national, regional, local, etc.), and in leadership positions, as appropriate. This individual also contributes to the larger social and faith-based community.
The program administrator will receive a 12-month contract.
The program director is responsible to advertise, communicate, and recruit potential students for their specific program and all COE programs.
The program director is responsible to advise all students in the program on course sequences, track progress, encourage retention, and inform about upcoming deadlines and events.
- Assist students with registration, graduation, and other processes of the University and students' university life adjustments
- Answer questions and initiate regular communication with students
- Help resolve problems (both logistically and through prayer)
- Counsel for career development and employment opportunities (during and after program completion)
