Position OverviewThe primary responsibility of Adjunct Faculty will be the direct supervision of law students enrolled in the Community Lawyering Centers in their representation of clients. The CLC accepts cases involving a broad range of legal issues including family law, housing, consumer, governmental benefits, and other areas. Adjunct faculty work closely with faculty from the College of Law to assure that a quality instructional environment is provided for the students and effective legal representation is provided to our clients.
Adjunct faculty assistant members will be required to meet certain parameters set by the Experiential Education program.
- J.D. degree
- Must be currently employed by Legal Aid of Northwest Texas or the Dallas Public Defenders Office.
- Superb academic and professional qualifications.
Skills and Abilities
- Practice experience that is sufficiently extensive and high quality to be a foundation for teaching in the College of Law’s educational program.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve excellence in teaching and in guiding and mentoring as to professional formation of students.
- Commitment to the goals of the College of Law and its curricular and instructional methods and goals.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing.
- Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- No adverse environmental conditions expected.
