Position Summary
The Dean of Students is the senior Student Services leader at Dallas International University. The Dean leads the university's student-success ecosystem so Dallas-based, online, and global students students receive the academic, personal, spiritual, and practical support needed to persist, complete their programs, and reach intended outcomes. The Dean supervises Student Services personnel, coordinates internal and outsourced support functions, and uses data, assessment, and continuous improvement to strengthen student care, engagement, formation, retention, completion, and accreditation evidence.
1.Student Success, Persistence, and Program Completion
- Lead Student Services in a way that helps students progress through their programs, access needed support, complete degree or certificate requirements, and achieve institutional and program-level outcomes.
- Monitor student-success indicators and coordinate timely follow-up for at-risk students
- Work with other departments to connect students with resources that promote retention, program completion, and success.
- Advise the Leadership Team on student needs and opportunities that affect student success and community.
- Lead Student Services in alignment with DIU’s mission, strategic plan, academic priorities, and commitment to Christian formation and global service.
- Serve as the Title IX and ADA coordinator.
- Oversee student care concerns, grievances, and requests, including disability accommodations, and Title IX reports in accordance with DIU policy and applicable law.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and records of student complaints, grievances, referrals, accommodations, student-risk follow-up, and care coordination.
- Maintain, communicate, and implement student-facing policies, including student rights and responsibilities.
- Oversee orientation, student organizations, student activities, student communications, and other student-related events that strengthen student life.
- Oversee career/vocational development and job-placement resources that support students’ academic, ministry, and professional goals.
- Maintain visible, responsive communication with students through approved channels and participate as needed in evening, weekend, online, or global-cohort engagement.
- Supervise and develop Student Services staff and resident personnel
- Oversee annual planning, budgeting, staffing, workflows, and internal or outsourced student-support functions.
- Oversee Student Services data collection, evidence files, and assessment practices in support of student success, institutional effectiveness, accreditation, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Personal commitment to Christian faith, spiritual maturity, high integrity, and alignment with the mission and values of Dallas International University.
- At least five years of combined experience and leadership in student affairs, student services, higher education administration, ministry leadership, student care, student success, or a related field, including staff supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop personnel, manage budgets and processes, coordinate student-success support, support diverse/global/multilingual students, and foster Christian formation and student community.
