JOB SUMMARY

Provides leadership and oversight to the UT Southwestern Medical Center Office of Faculty Affairs in the planning and implementation of programs, policies and procedures pertaining to the faculty of UT Southwestern Medical School, UT Southwestern School of Health Professions, and the Peter O'Donnell Jr. School of Public Health. Works under the direction of the Associate Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs as well as the Vice Provost and Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Career Development.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION – REQUIRED
  • Education: Master’s Degree in Business, Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
  • Experience: 6 years of experience in management with at least three (3) years in academic healthcare. Significant additional related experience in an academic institution may be considered in lieu of the stated degree.
JOB DUTIES
  • Provides overall administration for the Office of Faculty Affairs, including staff supervision and performance reviews. Ensuring cross training as needed to ensure suitable coverage.
  • Evaluates, designs, and implements programs, processes, and policies within the Office of Faculty Affairs to adapt to a changing academic environment to ensure efficiency, productivity, and optimal function of the department. Demonstrates logical rational and objective decision‑making. Uses resources and experience to solve problems and offer solutions and suggestions that are effective in addressing problems and situations. Requires a thorough knowledge of institutional policies, strategic priorities, and business practices.
  • Oversees all Faculty Affairs systems, including systems that support management of university faculty appointment data; annual evaluations, fourth year reviews, the promotion and tenure process and the post‑tenure review process.
  • Oversight of the processing of letters of intent, faculty appointments, reappointments, promotions and tenure, post‑tenure, non‑reappointments, periodic faculty reviews, faculty evaluation process, chair and division chief evaluation process, adjunct faculty appointments/reappointments, data collection, analysis, processing and reporting of faculty statistics of the UT Southwestern Medical School, UT Southwestern School of Health Professions, and the Peter O'Donnell Jr. School of Public Health (OSPH).

    Ensuring maintenance of accurate and complete e‑files on each faculty member.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Provost Operations & Financial Affairs as appropriate.
  • Effectively communicates faculty affairs processes and institutional policies related to Faculty Affairs. Provides guidance, problem solving and leadership specific to Faculty Affairs processes and procedures. Exhibits confidentiality, honesty and actions that build trust and strengthen relationships.
