Position OverviewThe University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of History Adjunct Instructor for the academic year. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching and to assist in further development of the UNT Dallas History program. - Master's degree in History with at least 18 graduate hours in History.
- Outstanding experience in teaching core‑curriculum U.S. History, Texas History, and World Civilization courses (both face‑to‑face and online).
Skills and Abilities
- Strong teaching skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.
- Ph.D. in History with significant experience in higher education.
- Successful experience teaching adults in a post‑secondary institution.
- Excellent communication skills in multicultural settings.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing.
- Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Adjunct instructors plan classes and implement and evaluate teaching/learning objectives and student learning outcomes. An adjunct instructor undertakes the divisional and professional responsibilities of a part‑time faculty member, including office hours. The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of undergraduate History courses within UNT Dallas’s History major, including core‑curriculum U.S. History (2610‑U.S. History to 1865, and 2620‑U.S. History since 1865), Texas History Survey (2305), and World Civilization courses (1050‑World Civilization I, 1060‑World Civilization II), and there may be an opportunity to teach upper‑level courses.
Adjunct faculty members will be required to use texts and meet certain content parameters set by the Department of History. Adjunct instructors also will be required to include in their courses certain student assessment measures determined by the department, and to compile data on those assessment criteria.
