OLPH is a small, vibrant Catholic school committed to nurturing the spiritual, academic, and emotional development of each child. We are seeking a compassionate and experienced School Counselor to join our dedicated team. This role is essential in supporting the holistic development of our students, fostering a positive and inclusive school culture, and upholding the values of our Catholic faith.
Essential Job Functions- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese
- Provides individual and group counseling to students in PreK-8th grade, addressing emotional, social, academic, and behavioral needs.
- Collaborates with teachers, parents, and administrators to create personalized support plans for students.
- Develops and implements programs to promote student wellness, positive behavior, and social-emotional learning.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals
- Prepares and implements the guidance program for students
- Identifies specific needs of students in academic as well as personal domains
- Assists students with social/emotional issues and offers referral options for outside counseling
- Coordinates the referral process for outside evaluation of students with possible learning differences
- Maintains current and accurate records according to school policy
- Meets staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese.
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
- Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students and staff
- Offer crisis intervention and support for students facing immediate challenges.
- Act as a resource for parents and guardians, offering guidance on supporting their children’s development.
