Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher

Tact Staff Education is hiring a full-time Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher to support students across the Dallas–Fort Worth area. This onsite position begins ASAP and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping students with disabilities develop motor skills, physical fitness, and confidence through individualized physical education services.

This position serves PK–12 students, with travel between two nearby campuses based on the candidate’s residence.

    Dallas–Fort Worth area (service locations within nearby ZIP codes including 75237, 76117, 76134, 76116, and 76119)
  • Serve approximately two nearby campuses based on home location
  • PK–12 student population
  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience
Responsibilities
  • Provide adapted physical education services to students with disabilities in accordance with their IEPs
  • Assess students’ motor development, physical abilities, and functional mobility needs
  • Develop and implement individualized physical education programs that promote participation and independence
  • Collaborate with special education teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Participate in ARD/IEP meetings and contribute to goal development and progress monitoring
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines
  • Create safe, engaging, and inclusive physical education environments for students with a wide range of abilities
Qualifications

Candidates should meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Physical Education Teacher with the appropriate Texas certification
  • Special Education instructional or related service personnel with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide adaptive physical education
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT)
  • Licensed Physical Therapist (PT)
  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) working under the supervision of appropriately certified personnel in accordance with professional standards
  • Previous experience working with students with disabilities or in school-based settings is preferred
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
