POSITION SUMMARY
The Intervention Specialist develops age-appropriate plans including modifications and accommodations for children enrolled in Jewish private schools. The academic Intervention Specialist monitors progress, provides specialized instructions, and participates in meetings regarding the student's plan and progress as part of the intervention process. The role of an Intervention Specialist at Jewish Family Service (JFS) is to provide high quality services consistent with the agency mission and professional practice.
The Intervention Specialist will work in collaboration with parents, teachers, and the multidiscilinary team. The Intervention Specialist must uphold the agency's mission and values and be a loyal ambassador of the agency.
- Develop individualized, academic intervention plans.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, school leadership, and the JFS multidisciplinary team.
- Provide services that are of the highest standard and that are culturally relevant to the clients served
- Conduct classroom observations to make recommendations on accommodations or modifications.
- Work with students directly to provide coaching and interventions.
- Provide teacher trainings and support as needed.
- Advocate on behalf of clients, when appropriate
- Serve as an agency representative to appropriate community groups as assigned.
- Complete all administrative tasks including but not limited to maintaining client records in an up to date, complete, clear and concise manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
- BA, Education; master's degree preferred
- Degree in special education a definite plus
- 3+ years of successful teaching, including working with children who have required special education services
