PrimaryPurpose:
The DP Dean is a key member of the school’s pedagogical leadership team. Their primary role is to coordinate the effective implementation and development of the IB Diploma Programme (DP). They execute the instructional and academic vision for the school, aligned with Uplift’s vision for academic excellence and in accordance with International Baccalaureate (IB) Standards and Practices. They have oversight of teaching and learning and are accountable for raising student achievement results in grades 11 and 12.
The DP Dean directly manages and supports teachers in their grade band to improve the quality of instruction and build and sustain a positive school culture. They effectively communicate about the Diploma Programme with other members of the pedagogical school leadership team, faculty and staff, families, scholars, and the broader community. They liaise with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) to stay abreast of current programme updates, ensure faculty and staff are trained, maintain compliance with all programmatic components, and facilitate all communication between the school community and the IBO.
The DP Dean works in conjunction with the school’s broader pedagogical leadership team and the members of the Central Management Office IB Team to maintain appropriate documentation and evidence to submit to the IBO for evaluation and program authorization every five years.

- Documents key aspects of the programme and keeps up-to-date records to comply with Standards and Practices of the IBO.
- Serves as a crucial link between the school and the IBO, managing communication, documentation, and logistics for authorization and evaluation processes.
- Proactively communicates with families and the broader community, organizing informational sessions, and ensuring transparency about programme components, assessments, and school policies.
- Provides instructional coaching and training to faculty with internalization of program curriculum and alignment with DP requirements.
- Establishes and manages a comprehensive system for documenting and archiving DP course syllabi and unit plans.
- Manages systems and practices that support teachers and scholars with successful development and execution of the DP Core, including the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS).
- Supports faculty with collaborative planning for vertical and horizontal articulation of curriculum.
- Manages and ensures that the school administers DP assessments in accordance with IBO rules, regulations, and program documentation; including invigilator/proctor training, safe storage and transport of assessment materials, accurate and timely reporting to the IBO, and all other requirement of the IB assessment procedures.
- Leads the school community in process of annual reflection of programme implementation to draft proposed adjustments utilizing the Programme Development Plan (PDP).
- Coaches and develops teachers by conducting regular and frequent classroom observations, providing targeted feedback, and supporting teachers with data analysis and instructional planning.
