Assist teacher to provide for physical and instructional needs of student with disabilities.
Position Requirements Education/Certification/License- High School diploma or GED
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Bilingual Preferred
- Some experience working with children
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
- Regular heavy lifting of students
- Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases
Duties/Responsibilities
- Supervise students inside and outside the classroom
- Assist students with physical disabilities, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning, and with physical and personal care needs
- Help teacher prepare instructional materials
- Assist with preparation of administrative records and required reports
- Attends staff, in-service, and parent education meetings
- Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
- Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of student.
- Conduct instructional exercises with individual and small groups of students
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
- Maintain friendly customer service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
- Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communications (i.e., email, written, and verbal)
- Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned
