Your Impact

The Enty Level MCE Wind Technician in the Main Component Exchange (MCE) division will support field work and on-site work focusing on Safety, Quality, and Efficiency. They will also perform up‑tower repairs and diagnostics on medium & major components including Generator Bearings, Generator Slip Rings, Rotor & Stator Cables, Gearbox HSS replacement, HSS bearings, IMS replacement, IMS bearings, Yaw Drive Repair/Exchange, Generator Exchanges & Trunnion Pin Repairs.

The position is 100% travel.

Core Responsibilities
  • Support lifting operations of equipment at heights over 250’.
  • May be required to oversee lifting operations following skills verification of large components and ability to create, review, correct, and amend lifting plans.
  • Conduct safe and efficient repairs to all Wind Turbine electrical systems.
  • Operate under properly performed Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) conditions and possibly as an Authorized Person.
  • Conduct pre-task planning, Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs), and Risk Assessments (RAs), and daily safety discussions.
  • Interact with vendors and customers in a professional manner.
  • Properly document all work in a variety of electronic formats and provide feedback to the Safety and Quality department for business improvements.
Core Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of direct product experience on one or more platforms.
  • Direct turbine specific experience is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics by various Wind Turbine manufacturers.
  • Main Component Exchange (MCE) experience required with additional knowledge in lifting operations.
  • Hold specific turbine manufacture certifications.
  • Detailed knowledge and skill in generators, converters, controllers, and electrical equipment.
  • Ability to recognize potential issues and major faults.
Safety Requirements
  • Ability and willingness to climb a wind turbine vertically at least 300 feet.
  • Maintain a weight between 120 and 280 pounds, including clothing and boots, for OSHA safety compliance.
  • Lift and move equipment as needed (more than 50 pounds).
  • Work in an indoor or outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions with blowing pollen, dust, and grasses.
