Our client is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. They offer deep subject matter expertise and use an engineering-led approach to designing, installing, testing, and maintaining medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure. They serve clients locally, nationally, and abroad.
Fantastic opportunities exist for skilled and experienced NETA Field Technicians to join their team. These roles involve performing testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-voltage substation equipment to ensure the safety and reliability of electrical power systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical testing and maintenance, as well as extensive knowledge of industry standards, including NETA, IEEE, and NFPA.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switch gear included (but not limited to) the following:
- Protective relaying and relaying systems
- Power Transformers
- Current and Potential Transformers
- Meters, Transducers, and Power system metering
- Power Cables
- Grounding Systems
- Motors and Motor Starters
- Station Batteries and Chargers
- Alarm systems and Annunciators
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Perform troubleshooting and problem identification and analysis. Make recommendations regarding corrective action and/or repairs
- Generate technical reports detailing services provided, problems found, and corrective action taken or recommended
- Represent the company in a professional manner regarding communicating and interfacing with clients
- Communicate effectively with the company management team on a regular basis regarding project status and the scheduling of manpower and equipment
- Always make safety a top priority, realizing that the company has Zero Tolerance for those who do otherwise
- Other duties as required
- Power DB knowledge a plus
- Broad knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals (Electrical)
- Broad knowledge of the major components of a substation
- Broad knowledge of control and protection systems (Electrical)
- Knowledge of high-voltage electric field theory (Electrical)
Broad knowledge of electrical code and standards (NEC, NESC, and applicable IEEE and ANSI) (Electrical) - Broad knowledge of civil / structural codes and standards (NESC, and applicable IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI) (Civil / Structural)
- Broad knowledge of the function of major electrical equipment
- Broad knowledge of ground grid theory and design (Electrical)
- Effective oral and written communications
- Knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation
- Knowledge of drafting standards
- Working in a team environment
- Communicating effectively with co-workers
- NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV) required
. - AAS in Electrical or Electronics Technology or equivalent experience in the high voltage industry
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in the high voltage industry
- Ability to lift up 75 pounds
- Pre-employment drug testing and random drug screenings are required.
- Pre-employment criminal background check
- Must be able to pass a physical exam
- Must be open to travel, with a minimum of 50%
- Valid driver’s license required, along with a clean driving record that must be maintained.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, as well as occasional weekends, holidays, and nights.
