Materials Engineer, Process Engineer
We are currently looking to hire a Junior Materials Engineer for one of our clients based in Dallas, TX. Our client is a fast-growing company in the advanced manufacturing and sustainable technology space. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career to gain hands-on experience and grow with a company that is expanding its manufacturing capabilities.
The Materials Engineer will support multiple technical domains, including but not limited to surface treatments, coating applications, adhesives, and thermal processes. You will work closely with experienced engineers, production teams, and R&D staff to run experiments, analyze results, and help improve and scale processes. This role offers strong mentorship and real ownership of technical work.
Some key responsibilities include:
- Design and conduct experiments to develop and optimize processes for material finishing, including corrosion coatings, bonding, heat treatments, and more
- Support the development and refinement of surface preparation methods (e.g., sandblasting, chemical treatments, passivation, plating) to ensure coating adhesion and performance
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment for coating, bonding, and heat treatment for laboratory and pilot-scale experiments
- Characterize magnet finishing outcomes using tools such as SEM, optical microscopy, XRD, micro-XRF, mechanical testing, salt spray tests, accelerated aging, etc.
This role is open to early-career candidates, including recent graduates. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or related field. 1+ year of work, internship, research, or lab experience is required.
PhD students or recent PhD graduates are also welcome to apply, even without industry experience, as long as they can show strong problem-solving ability. Examples include:
- Owning or leading a project as a student or researcher
- Designing or building an experimental setup or test device
- Running structured experiments and clearly explaining the results
Experience with surface coating techniques, thermal treatments, and materials characterization is ideal, as well as understanding of surface chemistry, materials thermodynamics, and kinetics.
