Metric is partnered with an automation systems integrator and manufacturer specializing in material handling and robotic automation solutions. The company designs and builds turnkey conveyor, vision-guided robotic, and process automation systems for food manufacturing, life science, and general industrial clients, with vertically integrated in-house fabrication and engineering capabilities.

About the Role:

This Automation Sales Engineer role is ideal for experienced professionals passionate about delivering engineered-to-order material handling and robotic automation systems. The position focuses on identifying and developing new business, supporting proposal development through detailed application data collection, and providing pre- and post-sales technical guidance to customers across a regional territory. The position includes significant regional travel to support customer visits, trade shows, and project collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and establish new business opportunities within food manufacturing, life science, and industrial markets.
  • Organize and conduct sales visits, on-site assessments, and application reviews.
  • Liaise with existing clients to expand relationships and uncover additional automation opportunities.
  • Support preparation of proposals and quotations through complete and accurate application data collection.
  • Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support for conveyor, robotic, and vision-integrated automation systems.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards within manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional engineering and manufacturing team.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong planning, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
