Position Overview
We are seeking a Staff Engineering Technician with strong experience in Autodesk Inventor and Substation Design Suite (SDS) within the substation/power delivery industry. This role functions at a senior technician level and supports the development and modification of engineering deliverables for substation projects.
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of hands-on experience using Autodesk Inventor with SDS in the substation industry and be capable of supporting drafting and design efforts with minimal supervision.
Candidates with Autodesk Inventor experience and substation industry experience (but limited SDS exposure) will be considered and may receive SDS training.
Candidates with Inventor experience only and no substation industry experience will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
+ Create and modify substation design deliverables using Autodesk Inventor and SDS
+ Apply industry standards, codes, document control procedures, and quality processes
+ Develop and review engineering drawings and technical documentation
+ Perform detailed material takeoffs and quantity estimates
+ Support project coordination across engineering disciplines
+ Ensure deliverables meet project-specific codes and standards
+ Assist with as-built documentation and project closeout activities
+ Support field activities as needed
+ Provide technical guidance and direction to junior team members
+ Participate in continuous improvement and quality initiatives
Required Qualifications
+ 3-5 years of experience using Autodesk Inventor with SDS (Substation Design Suite)
+ Substation industry experience required
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
+ Strong understanding of engineering standards and document control processes
+ Experience producing technical drawings and design deliverables
Preferred Qualifications
+ Diploma or Certificate in Drafting or Engineering Technology
+ Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Technology
+ Experience coordinating with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
