We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Machining to join our client, a rapidly growing advanced manufacturing organization. Based in Dallas, TX, this role will lead the development and optimization of precision machining processes and dimensional control strategies for complex, high-tolerance components and play a key role in the company’s next phase of technical growth.
What you’ll do- Lead hands‑on development of machining processes for cutting, grinding, shaping, and finishing components with tight dimensional tolerances and demanding surface integrity requirements
- Apply advanced GD&T principles to interpret engineering drawings and ensure precise part geometry, flatness, concentricity, and perpendicularity
- Conduct statistical analysis of machining data, including Cpk/Ppk, gauge R&R, and SPC, to monitor and improve process capability
- Lead root cause analysis of dimensional defects and machining errors; implement corrective actions and continuous improvement plans
- Perform hands‑on prototyping, process trials, and first‑article inspections using metrology equipment such as vision systems and precision gauges
- Mentor technicians and junior engineers; develop SOPs and technical documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in precision machining and dimensional control
- Advanced proficiency in GD&T, blueprint reading, and tolerance stack‑up analysis
- Experience with statistical analysis tools and process capability metrics (Cpk, Ppk, SPC)
- Experience designing and optimizing fixtures and tooling for complex geometries
- Fluency with CAD/CAM tools such as Solid Works or similar platforms
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Machining brittle, hard, or difficult‑to‑machine materials such as ceramics, intermetallics, or composites
- Advanced inspection techniques and digital metrology
- Experience leading technical development or continuous improvement projects
- Programming or automation applied to data analysis, data management, or process control
- A strong commitment to continuous learning and solving complex manufacturing challenges
