Senior PLC Field Technician serves as an expert-level field resource responsible for leading complex commissioning activities, troubleshooting advanced PLC and networking issues, and mentoring PLC Field Technicians. This role ensures high-quality technical execution, supports large-scale startup efforts, and acts as the primary escalation point for field-related challenges. The Senior PLC Field Technician demonstrates mastery of PLC systems, industrial networking, and processor redundancy while maintaining strong communication and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities- Lead commissioning activities on large or technically complex automation projects.
- Troubleshoot advanced PLC logic, distributed I/O, field devices, and communication networks.
- Configure, test, and validate PLC processor redundancy systems (e.g., Control Logix, Siemens S7).
- Mentor and train PLC Field Technicians, providing technical guidance and reviewing their work.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex field issues and system failures.
- Ensure technical consistency, quality, and adherence to standards across field teams.
- Integrate PLC systems with SCADA/HMI platforms such as Ignition and Factory Talk.
- Configure and validate industrial communication protocols including Modbus/IP, Modbus/UDP, Ethernet/IP, BACnet, MQTT, and OPC UA.
- Produce high-quality redlines, as-built documentation, and commissioning reports.
- Coordinate with Lead PLC Technicians, PLC Engineers, and project managers to ensure alignment on technical deliverables.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience with PLC systems in industrial or construction environments.
- Expert-level proficiency with Allen‑Bradley PLC platforms; strong working knowledge of Siemens or Schneider Electric systems.
- Mastery of Studio 5000, Factory Talk Linx, RS Linx Classic, RSNetWorx, and Factory Talk Activation Manager.
- Demonstrated expertise in PLC processor redundancy configuration and validation.
- Strong understanding of industrial networking, communication protocols, and distributed architectures.
- Proven leadership, mentorship, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, network diagrams, and mechanical plans.
- Willingness to travel to project sites (85%)

The pay range for this role is:
40 - 45 USD per hour (Remote (United States))
