We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Systems to lead the design, development, and advancement of complex electrical and power management systems. This role plays a critical part in product innovation, technical execution, and cross‑functional collaboration, supporting both new product development and enhancement of existing platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep hands‑on expertise in power electronics, strong leadership capabilities, and experience working within regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop complex electrical and power management systems
, including AC/DC and DC/DC switch‑mode power supplies (medium and low voltage). - Support the Sales Department in reviewing and developing technical proposals for power system and power electronics projects, often with limited or no reference designs.
- Identify, specify, and select components used in power applications based on performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
- Drive standardization, productivity, reliability, maintainability, and cost‑reduction initiatives across hardware designs.
- Review and ensure product compliance with company standards, customer requirements, industry regulations, and certifications
; develop strategies to achieve compliance and approvals. - Lead innovation efforts by integrating new technologies into electrical hardware designs and product roadmaps.
- Modify, evaluate, and advance existing designs, electronic components, and integrated circuitry.
- Define design approaches and technical parameters for new product development and product enhancements.
- Interpret customer and marketing requirements and translate them into robust electrical designs.
- Perform electrical design and coordinate activities across PCB layout, mechanical design, documentation, safety agency approvals, and manufacturing release
. - Conduct root cause analysis for product failures and complex technical issues.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design descriptions, user‑related documentation, and engineering reports.
- Lead, delegate, and collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams, ensuring effective communication with peers, leadership, and customers.
- Strong knowledge of schematic design, PCB design, troubleshooting, specification development, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
. - Hands‑on experience designing and troubleshooting AC and DC power supplies, inverters, UPS systems, and power distribution systems to the component level.
- Expertise in EMI/RFI attenuation, EMI/EMC compliance, and MIL‑standard design requirements
. - Proven ability to create, analyze, and test new designs, components, and circuit topologies with a focus on Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
- Experience designing for thermal management and environmental conditions
, including temperature, humidity, shock, and vibration. - Proficiency using lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and thermal chambers
. - Ability to write detailed test procedures and develop test fixtures.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access
, and electronic design tools including PCAD and Altium. - Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage engineers and work effectively across disciplines.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or Physical Sciences with 5+ years of relevant industry experience
, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - 3–5+ years of experience using relevant CAD and/or simulation tools and applicable industry standards.
- Experience working within ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems.
- Familiarity with MIL‑Standards for afloat, ground, and airborne environments.
- Prior experience with Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) is required.
The ideal candidate is a technically strong, detail‑oriented engineer who thrives in complex design environments, enjoys solving challenging power electronics problems, and can confidently interface with customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders while driving products from concept through production. Has worked on building 12 stories and above.
