Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking an experienced and driven Water Market Growth Leader to expand our Water business across Texas
. This position may be based in Austin, San Antonio, Dallas
, or another nearby AECOM office.
Professional registration is preferred but not required. Strong experience with municipal, state, and federal water-sector clients in Texas is highly desirable.
About the Role
The Water Market Growth Leader is responsible for driving market strategy, business development, and client engagement to grow AECOM’s water-sector portfolio across Central Texas
. This role strengthens client relationships, identifies new opportunities, and positions AECOM for success in delivering water, wastewater, and conveyance infrastructure projects throughout the region.
You will lead strategic pursuits, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and help establish AECOM as a trusted partner for major water infrastructure initiatives in one of the nation’s most rapidly expanding markets. This position reports to the Division Manager of our Texas Water Wastewater Division.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Market Expansion
- Develop and execute growth strategies that expand AECOM’s Water market presence across Texas.
- Provide market leadership for the Water sector and guide regional sales planning.
- Leverage existing and new relationships with utilities, municipalities, and regional water authorities.
Business Development & Pursuit Strategy
- Lead major water-sector pursuits, including capture strategy, win themes, proposal messaging, and fee strategies.
- Conduct risk/reward analyses for new opportunities and recommend go/no-go decision-making.
- Represent AECOM at industry conferences, utility forums, water association events, and client-focused engagements.
- Strengthen and expand relationships with key municipal, state, and federal water-sector clients.
- Serve as a Client Account Manager for clients in the region, supporting high-quality project delivery and long-term client satisfaction.
Team Development
- Mentor, coach, and grow a high-performing regional Water team aligned with increasing market share.
- Cultivate a collaborative environment across disciplines and offices.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and
10+ years of relevantexperienceor demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership - Strong understanding of Texas water-sector priorities, infrastructure needs, and procurement processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Professional engineering licensure in Texas or equivalent credential.
- Knowledge of water infrastructure funding programs (state and federal) and capital project delivery models.
- Demonstrated consulting sales ability within complex technical markets and long sales cycles.
- Ability to develop long-term client relationships that lead to sustained contracting opportunities.
- Experience negotiating contracts with water-sector clients and teaming partners.
